There are currently a large number of projects and cities in the Nordic countries focusing on developing sustainable urban development, but it is difficult to secure that ambitious visions are reached. There are many Nordic projects which have formulated environmental goals, but social and economic sustainability on a community scale is not often prioritised.
The building sector is in need for more clear common processes and guidelines to secure the development of Nordic sustainable urban development.
The project will create a joint Nordic framework for sustainable urban development, with the aim of at least 40 urban development projects using it for sustainable urban development in 2016.
